Scholarships

Scholarship is providing financial support to students to complete their education. There are many criteria that needs to be met to honor a student with scholarships. There are few categories where a student can apply for scholarships. They are listed below.

Based on merit:
This scholarship is based on the result of exams conducted for students in institutions. These are reserved for students who score well in the exams.
 
Student specific:

This type of scholarships are offered to students who belong to economically backward family, particular religion. It is also offered on the basis of gender and medical history.

 
Career based:

This is one of the categories where in a student is awarded with scholarship if he is planning to build a career in fields that are in high demands.

 
Sports quota:
As the name only suggests, it is reserved for those students who have achieved heights in any of the sports.
 

The scholarships are awarded by government and also by private entities. Students willing to apply for scholarships by filling forms and submitting. Students can apply anytime during their levels of education.

Under Ministry of Human Resource and Development for North-Eastern Region scheme:

ISHAN UDAY – Special Scholarship Scheme For North Eastern Region

Under Minority scheme:

  • Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities
  • This scholarship is available to children belonging to minority communities such as Muslim/Christian/Sikh/Buddhist/Jain/Parsi to encourage them to get the education that they deserve. The main motto behind introducing this scholarship is, children should not be kept away from school/education for not being able to pay the school fees.   • Scholarship for pursuing pre matric education for children with disabilities. This scholarship offers financial support to complete their pre matric education. Under Social Justice & Empowerment scheme:

Top Class Education Scheme for SC Students

To avail this scholarship, there are few eligibility criteria that needs to be met. Few of them are, students should belong to Scheduled caste and the family income should be no more than 450000, students perusing B-tech, MBBS, MD and other courses can apply to this scholarship. National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students – Scholarship (Formally Top Class Education for Schedule Tribe Students)

This scholarship is awarded to students who belong to Scheduled tribes community. There are few eligibility criteria that has to be met to avail this scheme introduced by government. Under School Education & Literacy scheme:

  • National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education(NSIGSE)
  • This scholarship scheme was introduced by the government in order to attract girls to complete their secondary education if they are forced to drop their education for not being able to pay the fees of the institution. There are few conditions that are necessary to be met in order to avail this scheme. This scholarship is meant only to encourage girls’ education.   • National Means Cum Merit Scholarship
  • This scheme encourages children from financially backward class to complete their secondary education. This scholarship is available to those whose annual income is less than 1,50,000. Under Department of Higher Education:

CENTRAL SECTOR SCHEME OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The motto behind introducing this scholarship is to extend financial support to the students whose family income is no greater than 6,00,000 and it is offered to those students who are included in merit list. To know more on this, you can click here.

 
Under Welfare And Rehabilitation Board(WARB), Ministry of Home Affairs:

Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme For Central Armed Police Forces And Assam Rifles

This scholarship was introduced in order to encourage for taking higher technical and professional education for the dependent wards, widows of central armed police forces and assa, rifles personnel. Under RPF/RPSF, Ministry of Railway:

Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme For RPF/RPSF

This scholarship was introduced by the government to motivate widows and unmarried wards of Ex-RPF personnel to avail a degree course in fields like engineering, medicine, dental and other few areas. Under University Grants Comission(UGC) – Ministry of Human Resource and Development(MHRD) scheme:

  • Free education for sports medal winners
  • This scheme is beneficiary for those who have actively participated in sports and won medals for country. To help them financially to get degree(bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate).   • PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child
  • This scheme was introduced in order to promote education of single girl child. This scheme offers financial help to avail post graduation education in non-professional courses.   • PG Scholarship University Rank Holders
  • This scheme offers scholarships to students who have secured ranks in graduation courses. To encourage them to take up post graduation courses, this scheme was introduced by the government.   • PG scholarship for SC/ST Students for Pursuing Professional courses
  • This course is limited only for students who belong to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribes community.   • PG Scholarship for GATE/GPAT qualified students for pursuing ME/Mtech/Mpharm

Under UGC – Indian Statistical Institute, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation scheme:

  • B Stat(Hons)/B Math(Hons)
  • These are the scholarships that are offered to candidates who are interested in pursuing degree in statistics or in mathematics. These scholarships are issued under UGC by Indian Statistical Institute, Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation.   • PRAGATI SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR GIRLS (DEGREE) For Technical education
  • This scheme was introduced by government in order to make sure that parents of girl child whose annual income is less than 8 Lakhs per annum do not feel difficulty in educating their children. Tripura

  • This scheme was started to support ST children’s education and to avoid drop out from school. This scheme would help the parents of ST children and encourage them to send their children to school to complete their education till class X at least.
